Prita McKenna

Digital Content Writer and Editor

Prita joined the team at The Charles Lafitte Foundation in the Spring of 2017 as the foundation’s Digital Content Writer and Editor. She has a deep and┬álifelong love of children, education, and the arts.

Prita graduated from Western Washington University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a K-8 Teaching Certificate. She was a┬áteacher in the Kent School District for many years and also earned her Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy during that time. During her years as a classroom teacher, Prita worked at a highly diverse, low-income, TITLE 1 school. She was fortunate to work with students and families from all walks of life. This experience only deepened her appreciation and love of diversity, children and families, quality education, the arts, and the need for children’s advocacy and outreach.

In 2011, Prita left her teaching position and started her own photography business. She looks forward to applying the creative and digital skills she has acquired through her photography to her work here at CLF.

Prita lives in the Seattle area with her husband, Sean, and their three young children. In her not-so-spare time she enjoys volunteering at her children’s school, reading, writing, and spending time with friends and family.
