Loggerhead Marinelife Center

CLF is proud to support Loggerhead MarineLife Center (LMC) and their efforts to promote conservation of ocean ecosystems with a special focus on threatened and endangered sea turtles.

In July 2017, two of LMC’s sub-adult Loggerhead sea turtles were released (with a crowd of hundreds of supporters). The released patients (see photos below) were Krebster, who was found near Hutchinson Island with anemia, hypoglycemia and overall poor health due to starvation and, Dr. Paul, who was accidentally hooked by an angler at the Juno Beach Pier. Fortunately, after months of fluids, medications and close monitoring by LMC’s team of staff and volunteers, both fully recovered and were returned to the wild.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center is able to treat an average of over 700 sea turtles each year. Located in Juno Beach, Florida, their advanced sea turtle hospital is the only one between Orlando and the Florida Keys, serving as a hub for sea turtle care servicing one of the most densely nested beaches on our planet.

For over three decades, LMC has been committed to the rehabilitation of sick and injured sea turtles. LMC’s advanced hospital, founded by The Gordon & Patricia Gray Family, is one of the leading facilities in the state and a prime resource for sea turtle rehabilitation. It features a surgical suite, upgraded x-ray room, blood work lab, endoscope, and ultrasound – allowing numerous sea turtles to be examined and treated at LMC.

LMC’s treatment protocol is from rescue to release – which means that sea turtle patients are released as soon as they are medically cleared. All of the sea turtle patients on campus are actively receiving treatment with the ultimate goal to allow each rehabilitated sea turtle back into the ocean as quickly as possible.

CLF proudly supports this wonderful organization and their efforts to conserve the ocean ecosystem. We enjoy hearing and sharing updates on their rescue and release efforts!
