Hobe Sound, FLA.- The Charles Lafitte Foundation (CLF) announces a $10K gift to Hobe Sound Community Chest (HSCC).
The Chest is managed by a Board of over 35 Hobe Sound volunteers who carefully monitor the disbursement of funds.
“The Hobe Sound Community Chest is, once again, extremely grateful for the $10,000 grant from the Charles Lafitte Foundation to kick-off our 2017 campaign and continue the Chest’s mission to help those in need in Hobe Sound and to provide for services at every stage of their lives,” says Suellen Millroy, Executive Director of HSCC.
During the past 68 years, the Chest, as it is known locally, has very quietly worked to provide support, encouragement and grants to programs that enrich the lives of Hobe Sound residents. Their mark extends from affordable housing to daily sustenance to early education, physical fitness and beyond, usually in a manner which keeps the faces of the people they are helping at the forefront. The Chest is helping to change lives at the individual level which in turn enriches the Hobe Sound community.
“Hobe Sound Community Chest has a rich history of supporting human services in the community,” says Jeffrey Citron, Co-Founder of The Charles Lafitte Foundation. “Similar to the mission of The Charles Lafitte Foundation, HSCC prioritizes funding organizations that make a direct impact on the community and monitors their grants to ensure funds are utilized effectively. CLF is pleased to continue our support with an additional $10,000 grant to help better the lives of those in our community.”
The list of Chest-supported agencies reflects the changing needs of the community, although major beneficiaries continue to be the Dunbar Center, the Hobe Sound Early Learning Center, the Banner Lake Club, and the Hobe Sound Chapter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County.
The Charles Lafitte Foundation (CLF) supports innovative and effective ways of helping people help themselves and others around them to achieve healthy, satisfying and enriched lives.
CLF supports organizations working in four main areas: education, children’s advocacy, medical research & issues, and the arts. The Foundation underwrites programs that can become self-sustaining with long-term commitment and measurable impact. In determining grants, CLF looks for solutions that lead to independence and self-empowerment for individuals, and to the establishment of effective, long-standing programs, and organizations.
In 2016, the Chest awarded over 40 local social service organizations serving those in need in Hobe Sound with both financial assistance and personal support.
