The Charles Lafitte Foundation Awards $10K Grant to the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County

West Palm Beach, FLA.– The Charles Lafitte Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County.

The funds will go towards supporting the continued operation and overall mission of the thirteen clubs throughout the county.

Founded in 1971, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County is a nonprofit youth development organization dedicated to promoting the educational, vocational, health leadership and character of boys and girls in a safe, nurturing environment. The Clubs provide more than a safe, fun and constructive alternative to being home alone – they offer a variety of award-winning developmental programs to help youth build skills, self-esteem and values during critical periods of growth.

In many communities, our children’s lives verge on being over-scheduled, but in many more that is not the case. Often children come home from school to empty houses without someone to help with homework, cook dinner, or provide guidance,” said Suzanne Citron, Co-Founder of the Charles Lafitte Foundation. “The Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County provides a safe, educational, healthy, and fun place for the disadvantaged youth of Palm Beach County. CLF is thrilled to partner with them and continue to provide a safe place for the youth in our community.

To achieve their vision, The Boys and Girls Club operate 13 sites throughout the county. Each site offers hope, opportunity and support which strongly impacts the lives of the youth they serve.

Representatives from The Charles Lafitte Foundation (CLF) toured the Max M. Fisher Boys and Girls Club in Riviera Beach in December of 2016. CLF and the Boys and Girls Club share a vision of providing people with the tools needed to live a healthy, satisfying life.

“We are extremely grateful to the Charles Lafitte Foundation for their generosity. Grants like this allow us to continue serving the over 8,000 children in need we serve throughout Palm Beach County very year”

Jane Miranda, CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County

Without our clubs, most of the children we serve would not have a safe place to go after school and we depend on funding like this to continue our operation.”

The Charles Lafitte Foundation (CLF) supports innovative and effective ways of helping people help themselves and others around them to achieve healthy, satisfying and enriched lives.

CLF supports organizations working in four main areas: education, children’s advocacy, medical research & issues, and the arts. The Foundation underwrites programs that can become self-sustaining with long-term commitment and measurable impact. In determining grants, CLF looks for solutions that lead to independence and self-empowerment for individuals, and to the establishment of effective, long-standing programs and organizations.
