The Charles Lafitte Foundation raised a record high at the 2006 CLF Charity Golf Classic. CLF awarded the Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts a check for $520,000 at their 4th annual Charity Golf Classic on June 5th.
Suzanne and Jeffrey Citron of Brielle, N.J., created the family foundation in 1999 and named it after one of their beloved dogs. The Charles Lafitte Foundation has changed many lives through the generosity of its founders who may be better known for the telephone company headed by Mr. Citron, Vonage.
“The choice of charity recipient every year for the Golf Classic is very difficult,” says Suzanne Citron. “The Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts stood out because of the positive message they instill in young girls. One of the foremost missions of the Charles Lafitte Foundation is to support organizations like the MCGS, who play an active role in improving the daily lives of N.J. youth. In a time where young women face many challenges we never had to think about, we recognize the importance of the work the Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts does.”
The proceeds of the Classic will go to create an endowment to provide free camperships at Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts 140-acre Camp Sacajawea where Girl Scout troops will enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities including hiking, swimming and equestrian.Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts serves more than 12,000 girls throughout
Monmouth and Northern Ocean Counties in conjunction with a dedicated group of nearly 4,000 adult volunteers.
