2012 Golf Classic Raises over $520,000 for Comfort Zone Camp
Comfort Zone Camp was this year’s beneficiary of the Charles Lafitte Foundation’s Annual Charity Golf Classic, held on July 31, 2012 at the prestigious Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck, NJ. Funds raised through the tournament were matched dollar for dollar by The Charles Lafitte Foundation, founded by Jeffrey and Suzanne Citron in 1999, bringing the total raised for the nonprofit organization to more than $550,000.
“We are so grateful for the support of the Charles Lafitte Foundation and the Citron family,” said Comfort Zone CEO Lloyd Osgood. “It is our mission to provide children with the support and tools they need to grieve, heal and grow in healthy ways. With this gift, we will honor the foundation’s goal to nurture vulnerable children and help them thrive.”
The day’s festivities included a speech by previous Comfort Zone camper, 11 year-old Olivia, who stated that for children who are struggling after a loss, “Comfort Zone Camp is simply the best place on Earth. It is the only place where I can be surrounded by people in the same situation as me – trying to make sense of such a huge loss in our lives and learning how to deal with the confusing emotions that never seem to end.”
