Golf Classic 2012

Hi everyone!

As some of you might know, we recently held the 9th Annual Golf Classic. The beneficiary was Comfort Zone Camp and we all had a great day. In the morning, everyone played golf on the beautiful course at Trump National, Colts Neck. Then everyone came in to have lunch, find out who won and learn about our beneficiary. My father and I gave speeches, as well as me many others. One girl, who is my brother’s age, gave a speech about her camping experience that was fabulous!

Here is a copy of the speech I made. It sums up our choice of Comfort Zone Camp.  Hope you enjoy it!

As most of you know I have been an active member of the Charles Lafitte Foundation since I was in third grade. I am now entering into 9th grade, so I have been helping decide which organization is the beneficiary for quite some time.   I have had the pleasure of attending over 25 site visits and have learned that giving back to our community can truly make a difference.  Through this time we have seen many amazing organizations and I am very happy to say that over the course of 9 golf outings you have helped raised over 4 million dollars.

This would not have been possible without the help of many wonderful people.  Many of you are here today.  Thank you for helping us raise awareness and help us make a difference in the world.

This year, as with the past years, we saw some great organizations so it was very hard to choose, but something about Comfort Zone Camp stood out.

Comfort Zone Camp helps children who have lost a loved one. These children lives are completely changed so they are seeking a ‘normal’, a place where they are known for themselves and not as the kid who lost a mom, dad, or a sibling. This camp helps them heal and feel like themselves again.

One of the many reasons that this organization stood out is the people who run it.

When visiting Comfort Zone Camp we talked to some representatives who were so passionate about helping these children, that we instantly understood the difference they were making in each child’s life. And not only are these children impacted at camp, they bring the new experience home with them.

I would like to thank everyone for coming here to support Comfort Zone Camp and all of the volunteers today.  Together we have helped to put a smile and laughter in a child life.

After all the speeches were finished, we announced the winners, gave out awards and then the big moment arrived – the check presentation. Everyone was really excited for this part because very few people knew how much money we had raised. Everyone cheered when we presented a check for $520,000!

Sadly, all good things have to come to an end, so everyone finished eating and went home.  It was a great day and, even better, when we got home we found out we raised even more money for Comfort Zone Camp. By the end of the day we were over $550,000! AMAZING!

Thank you to all the volunteers and anyone who has donated. You all helped us get to this outstanding number!

This year was great and I hope we have another one just like it in 2013. You can all comment below about my speech or ask any questions about the golf outing or this wonderful organization. Hope you are having a great summer!
