Last weekend my family and CLF were honored at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex County Matching Smiles Gala. It was wonderful to be there and such a beautiful event. My entire family attended and we filled three tables with friends. It was so much fun – well, until my mom and Jen took over the dance floor doing “Gangnam Style.” Then I made myself scarce.
Back to the gala…
Our involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters started many years ago. In 2010, BBBS was the beneficiary of the CLF Golf Classic. We raised over $450,000 dollars for them! One of my favorite things we did with BBBS happened last Thanksgiving. We gave each of the “littles” a gift card to pay for their family Thanksgiving dinner. I know it meant a lot to those families. BBBS are such a great organization and they hit on so many of the same mission areas we do. I love that we have been able to help them make more matches and serve more kids than ever before!
We are still waiting on the final number raised at the Match Smiles Gala. I can’t wait to find out. It takes $2,000 dollars to make just one match because they must do extensive screening for the “littles” and “bigs” to make sure it works. I am looking forward to seeing how many new matches we made possible.
The gala was wonderful and I was so happy to be apart of it! Thank you Big Brothers Big Sisters!
