Congratulation to Maria Keller, 14, of Plymouth, Minnesota our Fall, 2014 Kid’s Corner Junior Changemaker.
Maria is a typical teenager that was inspired by her love of reading to do something extraordinary. Maria started Read Indeed, a nonprofit literacy organization when she was just eight-years-old, hoping to donate one million books by her 18th birthday. Maria reached her goal five years early and now is working toward a new goal of donating two million books to kids in need around the world.
To date, she has donated more than $4 million worth of books to hundreds of thousands of kids who would not have had access. Her desire to make the world a better place – one book at a time – is why she is our Junior Changemaker of the Month. In recognition of her outstanding work, the Charles Lafitte Foundation has donated $5,000 to her charity, Read Indeed.
